Redirection Troubleshooting

Use this guide when a redirect or Redirection feature is not behaving as expected.

In this guide

• Redirect does not work
• Redirect points to the wrong page
• Redirect hit count does not increase
• Redirect logs do not contain visitor details
• Import does not work
• Existing redirect was skipped during import
• .htaccess rules are not being generated
• Database migration issues

A Redirect Does Not Work

First review the redirect under:

SEO Repair Kit → Redirection → Redirections

Check:

1. The Source URL is correct.
2. The Target URL is correct.
3. The redirect shows Active.
4. The appropriate redirect type is selected.
5. Use Regular Expression is not enabled accidentally for a normal URL redirect.

Then test the Source URL again.

A Redirect Opens the Wrong Page

Open the redirect and review its Target URL.

Make sure the destination is the intended replacement for the Source URL.

Edit the redirect if the destination is incorrect.

Redirect Hit Count Does Not Increase

First test the actual Source URL.

Then click Refresh in Redirect Analytics and review the redirect’s Hits value.

Also review Redirect Logs for a corresponding REDIRECT event.

Redirect Logs Do Not Show Visitor Details

Go to:

SEO Repair Kit → Redirection → Settings

Check:

Detailed Logging → Log every redirect hit with visitor details

If detailed visitor logging is required, make sure the option is enabled and save the settings.

An Import File Cannot Be Imported

Check that:

• The file uses a supported import format.
• The file is within the 10MB limit.
• CSV columns use the expected structure.
• JSON uses the expected redirect-object fields.
• .htaccess contains supported rule formats.

For CSV, the interface expects:

source_url, target_url, redirect_type, status, is_regex

Existing Redirects Are Skipped During Import

Check:

Update Existing Redirections

If it is disabled, the interface states that existing redirects with matching IDs are skipped.

Enable it only when you intentionally want matching records updated.

.htaccess Rules Are Not Being Generated

Go to:

SEO Repair Kit → Redirection → Settings

Check:

Enable automatic .htaccess rule generation

Also confirm that the website uses a compatible Apache/LiteSpeed environment.

For Nginx, the interface advises using a different approach rather than .htaccess synchronization.

Database Migration Shows No Migration Needed

If the Database Migration section displays:

No migration needed – database is up to date

no normal migration action is required.

Do not repeatedly run migration simply because the button is available.
