How Sitemap Manager Works

The How this works section explains the selection behavior:

Check the items you want to keep in the sitemap. Unchecked items will be excluded from the WordPress core sitemap.

This means only the content types and taxonomies you select will remain included when Sitemap Manager is enabled.

Sitemap Scope

Sitemap Manager controls only the default WordPress sitemap (wp-sitemap.xml).

If another SEO plugin generates its own sitemap, that sitemap is not affected by these settings.

Enable Sitemap Manager

Before controlling sitemap content, enable the feature.

1. Go to SEO Repair Kit → Sitemap Manager.
2. Find Main Setting.
3. Turn on Enable Sitemap Manager.
4. Select the content you want to keep in the sitemap.
5. Click Save Sitemap Settings.

When enabled, SEO Repair Kit includes only the items you select below in the WordPress core sitemap.

Select Post Types for the Sitemap

The Included Post Types section lets you choose which registered post types should remain in the WordPress core sitemap.

The available post types depend on the content types registered on your WordPress website.

The screen may include items such as:

• Posts
• Pages
• Media
• Courses
• Events
• Forums
• Jobs
• Lessons
• Quizzes
• Replies
• Reviews
• Topics
• Templates
• Structured Data
• Collections
• Assignments
• Floating Elements

How to Include a Post Type

1. Open SEO Repair Kit → Sitemap Manager.
2. Enable Sitemap Manager.
3. Go to Included Post Types.
4. Check the post types you want to keep in the sitemap.
5. Leave unwanted post types unchecked.
6. Click Save Sitemap Settings.

Important

Only the selected post types will remain in the WordPress core sitemap.

Select Taxonomies for the Sitemap

The Included Taxonomies section lets you choose which registered taxonomies should remain in the sitemap.

Available taxonomies depend on your WordPress website and installed plugins.

The screen may include items such as:

• Categories
• Tags
• Course Categories
• Event Categories
• Job Categories
• Job Locations
• Job Tags
• Job Types
• Topic Tags

How to Include a Taxonomy

1. Go to the Included Taxonomies section.
2. Check each taxonomy you want to keep in the sitemap.
3. Leave taxonomies you do not want included unchecked.
4. Click Save Sitemap Settings.

Important

Only the selected taxonomies will remain in the WordPress core sitemap.

Save Sitemap Settings

After selecting the required post types and taxonomies:

1. Review your selections.
2. Click Save Sitemap Settings.

Your selected sitemap configuration will then be saved.

If Your Sitemap Is Not Opening

The Sitemap Manager includes a notice for situations where the sitemap is not opening.

The interface instructs you to:

1. Open Settings → Permalinks in WordPress.
2. Click Save Changes once.
3. Check the sitemap again.

This refreshes permalink rules and can restore the WordPress core sitemap.

You can also use the Open Permalink Settings link from the Sitemap Manager screen.
