How to Configure Spam Rules

Spam Rules determine how SEO Repair Kit evaluates scanned Google results and assigns risk scores.

In this guide

  • Rules Sync Status
  • Language Rules
  • Expected Spam Languages
  • Website Allowed Languages
  • Language Mismatch Score
  • Spam Keyword Rules
  • Custom Blocked Keywords
  • URL Pattern Rules
  • Score Thresholds
  • Scoring Preview
  • Saving and syncing rules

Open Spam Rules

Go to:

SEO Repair Kit → Spam Monitor → Spam Rules

Check Rules Sync Status

At the top, Rules Sync Status shows whether your Spam Rules are synchronized.

The interface also provides:

  • Last Synced
  • Rules Hash
  • Sync Rules Now
  • Save All Rules

Use Sync Rules Now when you need to run the available rules synchronization action.

Use Save All Rules after changing Spam Rules.

Configure Language Rules

The Language Rules section helps identify Google results whose detected language does not match your expected website language configuration.

Expected Spam Languages

Use Expected Spam Languages to configure languages used by this detection workflow.

The interface provides:

Browse languages…

for selecting languages.

Website Allowed Languages

Use Website Allowed Languages for languages that are valid for your website.

For example, if your website’s normal content is English, English can be configured as an allowed language.

Select the legitimate languages used by your website rather than marking them as unexpected.

Language Mismatch Score

Language Mismatch Score controls the score contribution when the language mismatch rule is triggered.

The current screenshot shows a value of:

45

This value is configurable, so documentation should not treat 45 as a permanent fixed value.

Flag Unexpected Languages

Enable Flag Unexpected Languages when you want non-allowed detected languages to contribute to spam evaluation according to the configured rule.

Configure Spam Keyword Rules

The Spam Keyword Rules section provides category-based keyword detection in titles, snippets, and URLs.

The current interface includes categories such as:

  • Gambling
  • Adult Content
  • Pharma Spam
  • Vape / Tobacco / Shisha
  • Counterfeit / Luxury
  • JP / CN Ecommerce Spam

Each category contains predefined keyword rules.

Enable the categories you want Spam Monitor to check.

Review Category Keywords

Use View defaults where available to review the predefined keywords associated with a category.

This helps you understand what the category is designed to detect before enabling or changing related rules.

Add Custom Blocked Keywords

Use:

Custom Blocked Keywords

to add site-specific keywords you want the scanner to consider.

The current interface instructs:

One keyword per line

For example, if your site has a known spam pattern not adequately covered by the predefined categories, its relevant terms can be added here.

Do not add legitimate business terms simply because they sometimes appear in spam; overly broad keywords can increase false positives.

Spam Keyword Score

Spam Keyword Score controls the score contribution associated with keyword detection.

The current screenshot shows:

35

Again, this is configurable rather than a universal fixed value.

Configure URL Pattern Rules

The URL Pattern Rules section detects suspicious URL slugs and injected URL patterns in Google results.

The current interface provides:

Detect Fake Product URLs

Enable this rule when you want Spam Monitor to evaluate fake-product-style URL patterns.

Detect Suspicious URL Slugs

Enable this rule when suspicious URL slug detection should be included.

Add Blocked URL Patterns

Use:

Blocked URL Patterns

to enter URL patterns that should be checked.

The interface states:

One per line. Use /regex/ or plain substring.

This allows custom suspicious URL patterns to be added according to the website’s needs.

URL Pattern Score

URL Pattern Score controls the risk-score contribution associated with URL pattern detection.

The current screenshot shows:

35

Configure Score Thresholds

The Score Thresholds section determines how raw scores map to risk levels.

The current configuration shown is:

  • Clean: 0–30
  • Suspicious: 31–60
  • Spam: 61–80
  • Critical: 81–100

Editable fields include:

  • Clean Max
  • Suspicious Max
  • Spam From
  • Critical From

Review these carefully before changing them because they affect how scan results are classified.

Understand the Scoring Preview

The Scoring Preview provides a live example of how enabled rules contribute to a result’s score.

For example, the current screen demonstrates contributions from:

  • Mismatch hit
  • Pharma keyword
  • Suspicious slug

and then calculates a:

Final score

The interface caps the displayed risk score at 100.

This preview helps you understand how several rule matches can combine into a higher risk classification.

Save Spam Rules

After making changes, click:

Save All Rules

The interface indicates that rules are saved in WordPress and synchronized to the Python SERP engine.

Reset Spam Rules

Use:

Reset Spam Rules

only when you intentionally want to reset the configured Spam Rules.

Review your custom languages, keywords, patterns, scores, and thresholds before resetting.
