Step 1: Open Internal Linking

Go to your WordPress dashboard and navigate to:

SEO Repair Kit → Internal Linking

The Dashboard gives you a quick overview of Internal Linking activity.


Step 2: Review Settings

Open the Settings tab.

Review the available options for:

  • Internal Linking
  • Language
  • Ignore words
  • Content settings
  • Auto Linking
  • AI settings

Save your settings.

Step 3: Index Your Content

Open the Content Index tab.

Content Index prepares your website content for Internal Linking analysis.

Use it to:

  • Index posts and pages
  • Review indexed content
  • Refresh the index when content changes

Complete the Content Index before using Internal Linking Suggestions.


Step 4: Add Target Keywords

Open the Target Keywords tab.

Target Keywords help define the main topic of your content.

Use it to:

  • Add a target keyword
  • Review existing keywords
  • Update keywords when the page topic changes

Use a keyword that accurately represents the page content.


Step 5: Open a Post or Page

Go to:

WordPress → Posts or Pages → Edit

Open the content you want to improve.

SEO Repair Kit will show available Internal Linking Suggestions inside the editor.

This is the recommended way to review suggestions while working on individual content.

Review the suggestions shown for the current post or page.

Check:

  • Suggested anchor text
  • Target page
  • Content relevance

Only apply links that naturally fit the content.

If the suggestion is relevant, use the available action to apply it.

After applying the link, review the content to make sure:


Step 8: Generate Full-Site Opportunities

If you want to review Internal Linking opportunities across the whole website, go to:

Internal Linking → Link Opportunities

You can generate:

  • Rule-Based Opportunities
  • AI Link Opportunities

Use this option when you want to analyze multiple indexed posts and pages together.

After generation is complete, review:

  • Source page
  • Anchor text
  • Target page
  • Relevance

Approve or apply only useful suggestions.

For normal page-by-page editing, Editor-level Suggestions are recommended instead.


Step 10: Review Approved Links

Open the Approved Links tab.

Use it to review links that have already been approved.

You can check:

  • Source page
  • Anchor text
  • Target page
  • Link status

Step 11: Check Orphan Content

Open the Orphan Content tab.

Orphan Content helps identify pages that need more incoming internal links.

To improve an important orphan page:

  1. Find a related post or page.
  2. Edit that content.
  3. Add a natural internal link to the orphan page.

Step 12: Review Reports

Open the Reports tab.

Use Reports to review Internal Linking activity and overall progress.
